I have tried Indian food after I came to bay area. Overall I enjoy a lot of Indian buffet as I get the chances to try starter, main food, dessert and unlimited naan.

It offers Indo-chinese food with a lot of options. I highly recommend readers can try here if you are the first time to eat Indian food.
(After the pandemic in 2020, the physical location closed down, but the restaurant is still available on Doordash. It feels a bit sad because this place held many memories for me and Mr. D. The waitstaff knew us well and even knew about our engagement and marriage, quietly congratulating Mr. D. They even said we would come back with our kids one day.)
Located on Castrol Street in Mountain View
I recommend my favorite Indian buffet restaurant in 2024! They offer a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, and most importantly, it’s not very spicy. If you’re a bit sensitive to spice, you can start by trying this place out.
Before the pandemic (around 2018 or 2019), Mr. D and I had been there for ordering single dishes or went there for a birthday celebration with his friends. Back then, the restaurant hadn’t been renovated yet, the chef was different, and the dishes were spicier; I didn’t have a very good impression.
However, after the pandemic ended, we went a few times in 2023. Perhaps they changed the chef because the flavors are really good now! I recommend that readers in the Bay Area give it a try!
The locations include Mountain View and San Francisco. The atmosphere is nice and most of non-Indian are get used to food here.
In 2024, upon visiting again, I felt that their quality had somewhat diminished. Although the restaurant is still very popular, the naan bread arrived very slowly, and there was no paneer (Indian cheese) available for lunch.
Located in Mountain View Castro Street. It’s better to go earlier as it always crowded!
3. Non- Buffet restaurants

Ave $20~$30 per person

This is also one of my favorite takeout restaurants in 2024. As the name suggests, it is like Indian fried rice but blended with various spices, making it irresistible!
It includes Palo Alto and San Jose locations. The atmosphere is nice and people like to hang out there after work.
It’s also one of popular restaurant that attracted many non-Indian visitors. You can find the restaurant in Mountain View & Palo Alto. Up to now, in 2024, it is also one of my and Mr. D’s favorite restaurants. I recommend the Palak Paneer and Butter Paneer. Their Dal (lentil soup) is really delicious!
Nice decoration restaurant. I got some experience to eat inside the Tak-Tak( Three wheels car)
Located in Sunnyvale and Fremont. It’s decorated by Chinese style( Buddhist).I highly recommend readers can try here if you are the first time to eat Indian food.
It’s most welcome for Indian so it’s not common to see non-Indian people there. Vegetarian restaurant. Simple decoration.
4. Breakfast, street food and dessert
Many non Indian like to come here to eat.
The street cars are somewhere in Bay area. The special food would be Momo(such as Taiwanese Dumplings)
As many Indian friends can’t eat egg, we usually come here and buy Eggless cake.
